Special Deputy Brian King with Casey County Sheriff's Office stopped at 2021 Ford Ranger pickup, for speeding, just after 11:30pm Sunday Night, about six miles North of Liberty on US 127. He suspected the driver, 20 year old Logan Wade Ponder, of Liberty, was impaired, and called Deputy Geoffrey Brown to conduct a field sobriety test.
According to the arrest citation, Ponder's speech was slurred. He failed the field test and was transported to the Casey County Hospital where he refused a blood test. Ponder was then taken to the Casey County Jail on charges of DUI.
A search at the Jail resulted in the discovery of plastic baggies and illegal drugs. Other charges added at that time include Trafficking Controlled Substance-1st Degree (drug unspecified), Trafficking Heroin, & Promoting Contraband-1st Degree.
