2 PEOPLE INJURED IN A 2 CAR ACCIDENT IN PULASKI COUNTY MONDAY

According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, two people were injured in a two vehicle accident Monday morning, July 15, 2019 on Ferry Road in Somerset, Kentucky.

At approximately 11:02 AM, the 911 Dispatch Center advised Deputies Alex Wesley and Zach Mayfield of an injury accident with entrapment at the intersection of Ferry Road and Prather Cemetery Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies Wesley and Mayfield found two victims suffering from injuries sustained in the collision.

Preliminary investigation of the accident found that Wanda Lee Whitaker, age 70 of Hidden Springs Drive, Somerset was northbound on Ferry Road in a Gray 2014 Toyota van.  Apparently Ms. Whitaker crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2019 White Buick Enclave. The Buick was operated by Tommy Wiley, age 73 of Horizon Court, Somerset, Kentucky.

Both victims were treated at the scene by EMS personnel.  Ms. Whitaker was flown from the scene by Air Methods to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and Mr. Wiley was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Three juvenile passengers in the van operated by Ms. Whitaker declined treatment or transport to the hospital.

Units were assisted at the scene by volunteers of the Parkers Mill Fire Department and the Pulaski County Rescue Squad.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Alex Wesley of the PCSO.
